Work on diseased trees

You may notice two large trees being removed in the park – a beech and an oak. One is near the children’s playground and the other is over towards Swains Lane. This is unfortunately needed urgently as they have been identified by Camden’s tree experts as having the fungus Mneripilus giganteum which is a safety hazard, particularly for the beech.

The wood from the beech will be cut into logs and used either at Waterlow Park or will be moved to another open space. The oak tree will be left as standing deadwood about two meters high.
