Who we are

The Friends of Waterlow Park (FOWP) is a local amenity group set up to be the voice of park users. It was formed in 1992 under the auspices of Camden Council. FoWP worked with Camden Council and English Heritage to restore the historic Park’s splendour helped by Heritage Lottery Funding. We liaise with Camden Council Open Spaces on day to day operational matters; the Council  is the corporate trustee, and has responsibility for running the Park. The newly set up Trust Advisory Group [TAG] liaises with Camden on strategic issues and we have two seats on their council.

FoWP has a membership structure and keep members informed and involved via the website, facebook, twitter and occasional emails, and through meetings, including an annual general meeting with outside speaker, user surveys, contact via the website and through attendance at other relevant amenity group meetings. The FoWP committee meets 11 times a year and welcomes input from members with relevant skills.

As Council budgets are tight, we organise fundraising events in and away from the Park, grow plants for use in the Park and for sale, oversee the Orchard and liaise with the Kitchen Garden plotholders, and run a weekly volunteer gardening group in the Park.
